Equine Portraits

When not photographing people and dogs, my other passion is photographing  Horses.

There is always a special bond between a horse and its owner. We aim to capture that relationship in a range of stunning images.

Whether it is a child’s pony or a thoroughbred, we love creating photographs of these majestic creatures.

Your Equine Portrait Session

I always photograph the owner and horse together. I also request a parent or close family friend/stablemate to be in attendance for safety and even to shake some oats in a bucket to get the horse’s ears to prick up !!

I recommend two outfits for the rider, one casual and one more formal especially if you compete on the circuit. Any cups rosettes remember to bring if you want to include them.

The session length will depend on the number of horses and the package you choose. (see below)

But roughly it works out at one hour per horse.

I will arrive early to scout around the location and find the best light and backgrounds.

Plan ahead especially if you have a poppy field, a rape field and bluebell wood nearby all of which can make your shoot really special.

Water spray and horses can look stunning if you have a river ford nearby see if there’s a way to incorporate it.

Think about sunsets and where the sun sets around the yard.

If your sister/brother has a horse as well, then I am happy to incorporate them into the shoot. I also do some black background shots as part of a typical shoot which is in vogue at present.

Horses I usually photograph on Monday or Thursday if interested, give me a ring, and we can discuss your ideas.

After the horse shoot, generally within two weeks, we invite you back to the studio to view the pictures on the big screen. At times we can do Zoom Viewings if you are not close by.
